One problem with ALM -->
Students’ in ability to readily transfer the habits they had mastered in the
classroom to communicative use outside it.
Chomsky argued that languange acquisition
could not posibly take place throug habit formation since people create and
undersatand uterances they have never heard before-novel sentences. Thus,
language must not be cinsidered a produce of habit formation but rather
of rule formation. Language acquisition should be a procedure where
people use their own cognition to discover the rules of the langauge they are
acquiring.
Since then, no language teaching
method ever really developed directly from ‘cognitive approach’, instead a
number of ‘Innovative methods’ emerged.
